Some days ask more of you than you have. These verses aren't about being tough. In Scripture, strength is usually something received, often by people who have just admitted they've run out.
When you need help right now
“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.”
Psalm 46:1 (KJV)
"Very present" is the phrase to hold onto: not distant help, and not help for later.
When you're facing something hard
“Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.”
Joshua 1:9 (KJV)
Joshua was stepping into a role that terrified him. The courage he was offered rested on a promise of presence.
When you need to keep going
“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
Philippians 4:13 (KJV)
Paul wrote this from prison, after saying he'd learned to be content with little or with much. It's a verse about being sustained through every circumstance, not a promise of winning.
When your body or heart is failing
“My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.”
Psalm 73:26 (KJV)
The verse begins by admitting the failure. Honesty comes first, and the comfort follows.
When you need joy
“the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
Nehemiah 8:10 (KJV)
These words were spoken to people in tears. Joy here is offered as a gift, and it doesn't depend on everything being fine.
A short prayer for strength
Lord, I don't have much left. Be my strength today, for the next hour and the next task. I'm not asking to feel strong. I'm asking You to hold me up. Amen.

Where does the Bible say the joy of the Lord is your strength?
Nehemiah 8:10. The people were weeping as they heard God's law read, and they were told that the joy of the Lord would be their strength.
